How to use this converter

Use Unicode for the web, email and modern office documents. Choose the reverse direction only when a legacy workflow requires Bijoy-encoded text. The legacy preview intentionally shows its underlying character codes; no unlicensed font is distributed.

Handles pre-base vowel signs, split o/au signs, reph and common conjuncts. Unicode output works with modern Bengali fonts. Legacy output needs a separately licensed, compatible SutonnyMJ font in your destination app.

Conversion limits & mixed text

Targets the common Bijoy / SutonnyMJ character map, not every Bengali legacy font. Text copied from a PDF may have missing characters or a different map. Historical glyph variants can differ; review the result in the destination software. Characters without a legacy mapping remain in Unicode and trigger an explicit warning. This is encoding conversion, not translation or OCR.

Plain text only: rich text, font metadata and document layout are not imported. No font is included or required for Unicode output beyond your device’s normal script support.

A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Convert only the legacy Bengali passage in mixed text

Plain text loses font information, so Latin-looking characters can belong to either English or a legacy Bengali mapping. Choose the scope explicitly. This example converts Avgvi to আমার while preserving the English, Arabic and Japanese surroundings.

  1. Paste English 123 — Avgvi — العربية 日本語 into Your text.
  2. Choose Bijoy / SutonnyMJ → Unicode. Under Which text uses the legacy font?, choose Selected passage only.
  3. Select only Avgvi in the input and select Convert text.
  4. Compare English 123 — আমার — العربية 日本語, then use Copy result or Download TXT.

Select only Avgvi in the first line.

English 123 — Avgvi — العربية 日本語
English 123 — আমার — العربية 日本語

Keep in mind

  • Use an explicit selected passage for mixed English and legacy text. Plain text cannot identify the source font.
  • Supports the common Bijoy/SutonnyMJ mapping, not every font or Word/PDF layout.
